The youth centre in Azghang, Nador province, hosted a seminar on the local elite and the region's development, bringing together academics, political actors, media figures and civil activists.
Speakers discussed the concepts of elite and development, noting that the province long suffered marginalisation and that several projects stalled.
They stressed the absence of a strong elite and a lobby able to defend the region's interests, the lack of coordination between local councils, the role of parties in training their elected officials, and the importance of media in local affairs.
