Ras El Ma council president released after cheque case detention
Mohamed Lahmam, president of the Ras El Ma municipal council, has been released and left Selouane civil prison, according to sources close to him.
He had been arrested on 4 October for issuing a cheque without sufficient funds.
It remains unconfirmed whether his release followed bail with charges pending, or repayment of the cheque amount, estimated at more than four million dirhams.
The arrest followed a complaint by his sister's husband.
His absence prevented him from attending the October session, chaired by his first deputy, during which all agenda items were approved unanimously.
