The relocation of Nador's local prison to the territory of the Selouane commune has deprived inmates of the film workshops run for years by screenwriter Abdelkader El Mansouri.
The former prison facility was in central Nador, while the new site is more than twenty kilometres away, requiring over an hour of round-trip travel by public transport.
El Mansouri announced he is ending this voluntary work after fourteen years of artistic and cultural activity in the prison, stressing that he gained extensive experience on the image of art and culture in inmates' imagination and their link to reintegration.
He added that he had not imagined the relocation would distance cinema and cultural activity from beneficiaries, and hoped the city's artists would fill the gap.
