In recent years, the city of Nador and its surroundings have seen a marked rise in motorbikes used for delivery services, a job that has become a source of income for many young people as stable work remains hard to find.
The activity has brought various services closer to residents, from meals to purchases and documents, while providing income for part of the youth.
That positive side, however, does not hide dangerous behaviour that irritates road users: running red lights, riding against traffic, entering banned streets, risky overtaking between cars and sudden changes of direction, along with motorbikes riding side by side in the middle of the road.
These practices should not be generalised to all workers in the sector, as many act responsibly and respect traffic rules.
Strengthening a culture of road safety, awareness and enforcement remains necessary, because the road is a shared space and an order delayed by a few minutes is not worth a life.
