Younes Tazi, governor of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, held a preparatory meeting with list agents, candidates and provincial party secretaries, in the presence of public prosecutor representatives, ahead of the campaign for the 23 September legislative elections.
The meeting set out 12 key points, including strict compliance with electoral law and campaign financing rules, as well as the neutrality of the territorial administration and equal treatment of all candidates.
The governor banned the use of public administrations' human, financial and logistical resources for any candidate and required respect for designated poster sites.
He called for a campaign based on programmes and ideas, free of insults, guaranteeing voter freedom and banning violence and intimidation.
Provincial and regional cells were set up to receive and process complaints, in coordination with the prosecutor's office and the judiciary.
