The United States Geological Survey announced the recording of an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter scale off the coast of Chile.
The epicenter was located 94.5 kilometers from the city of Copiapó, at a depth of 16.1 kilometers.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.
This earthquake follows other tremors in the region, including one of magnitude 4.9 in southwestern Taiwan and one of magnitude 5.1 that struck the city of Calama in Chile three weeks ago.
