Consumer prices fall in Al Hoceima in July, restaurants and hotels rise
The consumer price index in the city of Al Hoceima recorded a decrease of 0.6% in July 2026 compared to June, and 1.5% year-on-year, according to a report by the regional planning directorate of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima.
The food price index fell by 1.2% month-on-month, due to lower prices for fruits by 4.9%, vegetables by 2.4%, fish and seafood by 0.6%, and oils and fats by 0.4%.
Prices for meat, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery also fell by 0.2%.
In contrast, the non-food index rose by 0.2% month-on-month, driven by an increase in prices for restaurant and hotel services by 17.8%, other goods and services by 0.7%, and clothing, footwear and transport by 0.1%.
The report recorded a decline in transport prices by 3.3% and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.5%.
Compared to July 2025, food prices fell by 4.5%, with a notable decline in oils and fats by 27.6%, milk, cheese and eggs by 7.6%, vegetables by 5.7% and fruits by 5.3%.
Non-food items rose by 2.5% year-on-year.
