The Istiqlal Party announced on Tuesday, July 28, the start of the procedure for validating list leaders for the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026, and revealed the decision of parliamentarian Noureddine M'dian not to run again, while tasking him with proposing names of candidates to succeed him in the Al Hoceima constituency.
In a statement, the party said its Secretary-General Nizar Baraka received M'dian, former head of the Istiqlal group for unity and egalitarianism, in a meeting devoted to reviewing his parliamentary career and upcoming elections.
The statement highlighted that the meeting recalled the record accumulated by M'dian during his three decades of representing the province, praising his advocacy for the region's causes and his closeness to the population.
The meeting also addressed the challenges of the next phase, within the framework of the leadership's desire to consolidate achievements.
M'dian expressed his gratitude to the leadership, preferring to make way for party activists in the province.
The Secretary-General tasked him with proposing names of activists who meet the conditions of commitment, integrity, and competence to represent the party in the constituency.
