Nador West Med Port Begins Exports Before Completion

Moroccan authorities have begun opening part of the Nador West Med port to export operations, although the project is not yet complete, in response to commitments to a Chinese investor specializing in renewable energy technology.
The Ministry of Equipment and Water has issued instructions allowing Aeolon Renewable Energy Morocco to export wind turbine blades produced at its factory in the eastern region.
The company produces about sixty shipments per month, requiring a nearby seaport.
Due to the absence of some essential facilities such as the harbor master's office, a transitional arrangement has been adopted: administrative and customs procedures are carried out via the Beni Ansar port, while loading operations take place during the day at the new port.
Professionals believe this step reflects the authorities' will to honor their commitments, but also highlights the delay in the port's construction.
Logistics experts see it as a strategic step strengthening Morocco's position as an industrial and logistics platform between Africa and Europe.
