European grant of €2.1 million to support development of Nador West Med port

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the company “Nador West Med” signed an agreement on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Rabat, providing a grant of €2.1 million to support the development of the Nador West Med port complex as an attractive and sustainable economic zone.
The agreement was signed by Haitam Aissa, director of the bank's office in Morocco, and Mohamed Jamal Benjelloun, general manager of the company.
This agreement will finance a technical cooperation program aimed at digitalizing the management and operation processes of the complex, integrating resilient infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions, and strengthening institutional capacities.
This program complements an earlier financing of €120 million allocated by the bank to the project in 2025.
The support will focus on accelerating the digitalization of the Bétoya industrial and logistics zone through the development of a fully automated single window, facilitating the establishment of investors.
It will also include the preparation of a sustainable infrastructure plan and the development of staff skills.
Haitam Aissa stressed that the program reflects the bank's commitment to supporting regional development and enhancing economic competitiveness, making Nador West Med a leading industrial and logistics hub.
