Ilyas El Moudden, representative of the National Motorway Company of Morocco, announced that works on section 3 of the Nador-Guercif highway, spanning 27 km between national roads No.
2 and No.
16, have reached over 80% completion.
This section includes complex engineering structures, including three major river crossings and 19 other structures, as well as an important interchange in Driouch province and a toll station.
About 6 million cubic meters of excavation, 5 million cubic meters of embankment, and 370,000 tons of asphalt layers have been completed.
Works on section 2, 40 km long, started in January, with completion expected in 2028.
Section 1, 36 km, has completed its administrative procedures, awaiting the green light from the African Development Bank.
The total project cost is 7.8 billion dirhams, of which 2 billion for section 3.
Once completed, the highway will be a driver of economic and social development for the Oriental region.
