Meeting to Speed Up Nador West Med Port Works Before Year-End
The governor of Nador province, Jamal Chaarani, chaired an expanded meeting of the monitoring committee for the Nador West Med port project on Friday, May 22, 2026, attended by representatives of Nador West Med, ONEE, Marsa Maroc, ANP, ONCF, the national highway company, as well as several ministerial departments and public institutions.
The meeting aimed to assess the progress of parallel works and related projects, in preparation for the port's operation before the end of the year.
The provincial authority emphasized the strategic nature of the project, which will be a turning point for the economic, logistical, and industrial development of the province and the Oriental region, stressing the need to accelerate works and coordination.
Discussions covered the comprehensive development of the port's surroundings, including securing land, road, rail, and highway connections, electricity supply, as well as training and employment, with a roadmap to qualify local human resources.
Participants also discussed the rehabilitation of the impact zone, particularly housing supply and basic infrastructure.
This meeting reflects the institutional mobilization for the project's success, considered a strategic pillar for the Oriental's competitiveness.
