Data from the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property shows that the Oriental region recorded the creation of 872 new companies by the end of February 2026, thanks to the momentum generated by the Nador West Med port project ahead of its official opening at year-end.
Nador province captured 397 companies, 45% of the total, ahead of Oujda with 247.
Activity is concentrated in trade (42.8%), construction and real estate (18.8%), and services (14.1%), while technology remains limited (2.35%).
The project invests about 10 billion dirhams with a capacity of 3.5 million containers per year, and is expected to transform the region into a Mediterranean logistics and industrial hub, with support from the EBRD through a grant of 2.1 million euros.
