Istiqlal Loses Al Hoceima Seat After Moudiane's Absence

The Istiqlal party lost its seat in the Al Hoceima constituency in the September 23 legislative elections after senior figure Noureddine Moudiane declined to run due to a court ruling.
The party's new candidate, Mohamed El Hamdouni, failed to secure one of the constituency's four seats despite backing from Moudiane and local Istiqlal activists.
Nationally, the party dropped 16 seats compared with 2021 and also lost its seat in Nador.
Abdelhak Amghar of the USFP topped the poll with 13,217 votes.
