Campaign to plant 200,000 trees in Nador mountains

Environmental activists have launched a campaign to plant 200,000 trees in the Nador mountains, an initiative aimed at strengthening vegetation cover and countering desertification.
It comes as green areas shrink due to drought, overgrazing and repeated fires.
The forestry administration, for its part, urges against rushing the operation, stressing the need to respect technical standards, choose species suited to each site and ensure irrigation is maintained after planting.
Specialists note that the success of such initiatives depends on prior planning, coordination with the relevant services and the sustained involvement of local residents.
