Magnitude 4.4 earthquake strikes Driouch province

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck the province of Driouch in northeastern Morocco, according to the Moroccan Seismic Monitoring and Alert Network.
The epicentre was located off the province's coast, and the tremor occurred at 10:11:52 local time.
The statement said the quake was recorded at a depth of 26 kilometres, at latitude 35.483 degrees north and longitude 3.610 degrees west.
No casualties or material damage have been reported so far.
The border area between Morocco and Algeria experiences relatively frequent seismic activity, with several light tremors recorded in recent years.
