Selouane: Rising Thefts and Calls for Stronger Security

The town of Selouane in Nador province is seeing a marked rise in thefts: more than five cases in under a month, the latest a week ago when unknown assailants armed with knives confronted a resident.
Locals complain of the area's isolation and a lack of social, economic and cultural services, alongside weak security coverage.
They are calling for the Royal Gendarmerie and Auxiliary Forces to be reinforced, noting that the gendarmerie numbers no more than twelve officers for a commune of nearly thirty thousand residents.
They also demand the urgent opening of a police station, since Selouane was upgraded to municipality status, like Bni Ansar, Zaio, Al Aaroui and Azghanghan.
