The governor of Nador province, Jamal Chaarani, has launched proceedings to remove six members of the Selouane communal council, suspected of violations and legal irregularities investigated by the General Inspectorate of the Interior Ministry.
The governor's lawyer filed the removal request this week with the administrative court in Oujda, and the councillors concerned have received their summonses.
The court is expected to hold hearings after the judicial representative submits a brief based on the inspectorate's report.
The powers of the members concerned have been frozen until the case is decided.
