The road axis linking Nador and Selouane saw significant traffic congestion on 18 August, with long queues at one of the city's busiest entrances during peak summer pressure, while the Arkman bypass also recorded circulation difficulties.
The jams come as Nador undergoes major works linked to the Nador West Med port, due to enter service by the end of 2026, and the motorway connection toward Guercif.
The axis links dozens of residential and economic areas to the airport and the national road network, making every lost minute a real economic cost.
Observers argue that regional connection projects do not automatically solve urban traffic: a truck can arrive quickly from Guercif and then get stuck in a local network designed for less traffic.
