Call for establishing university institutions in Driouch province

In an opinion article, a writer from Driouch province called for expanding university coverage in the Oriental region, praising recent developments at Mohammed First University in Oujda, especially the transformation of the multidisciplinary faculty in Nador into four independent faculties.
He noted that university expansion is concentrated in Oujda, Nador, and Berkane, while provinces like Driouch, Jerada, Taourirt, Guercif, and Figuig remain off the map.
He presented three arguments to support establishing university institutions in Driouch: its national history of resistance to colonization, its large competent European diaspora, and its proximity to the Nador West Med port project which requires training in maritime fields.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of territorial equity in distributing higher education institutions to boost local development.
