Nador receives Medusa submarine cable to boost digital connectivity

The city of Nador inaugurated the landing station of the Medusa submarine cable, as part of a partnership between Orange and Inwi, aimed at strengthening Morocco's international connectivity.
The cable includes 12 fiber pairs, two of which were used in the first phase, with the possibility of opening access to other operators later.
The project included the construction of a landing station that took 15 months and complementary technical facilities.
The cable connects Nador to Marseille, with plans to connect Tunisia later.
The total cost of the project exceeds 400 million euros, with support from the European Union and the European Investment Bank.
The cable is expected to enter service at the end of January or beginning of February, with capacities of up to 20 terabits per second per fiber pair.
The project strengthens Morocco's position as a regional hub for digital connectivity and supports the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, contributing to reducing the digital divide and attracting investments.
