Istiqlal Party loses parliamentary seat in Al Hoceima

The Istiqlal Party lost its parliamentary seat in the Al Hoceima constituency in the legislative elections held on 23 September 2026, after its candidate Mohamed El Hamdouni failed to secure one of the four seats allocated to the province.
The party entered the race with a new candidate following Noureddine Moudiane's decision not to run; he had represented the province in the House of Representatives for three decades.
The results gave victory to Abdelhak Amghar of the USFP with 13,217 votes, Karim Boutahiri of the RNI with 11,951 votes, Mohamed El Hamouti of the PAM with 10,745 votes and Mohamed El Aaraj of the Popular Movement with 7,535 votes.
This loss follows the party's first-place finish in 2021, when Moudiane won more than 22,000 votes.
