Bni Azimane Dam Near Driouch Set to Enter Service at 1.4 Billion Dirhams
The Bni Azimane dam in Driouch province is nearing operation after works reached 98 %, with a total cost of about 1.4 billion dirhams.
Located on the Kert river in Tleta Azlaf commune, roughly 25 kilometres from Driouch, it began filling its reservoir last May.
Its storage capacity is around 44 million cubic metres, with a height of nearly 70 metres and a mixed design combining roller-compacted concrete and compacted earth.
The structure is expected to improve drinking water supply for nearby villages, agricultural irrigation and livestock watering, while protecting Midar town and downstream areas from flooding.
The site has generated more than 600,000 workdays since work began in October 2021, under the national water programme 2020-2027.
