Al Hoceima: battle for second list spot threatens PAM's election calculus
The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) in Al Hoceima is witnessing an internal battle over the second spot on its electoral list, which could affect the outcome of the 23 September vote.
The dispute pits Mohamed El Hamouti, the party's re-nominated MP, against Said Akrouh, president of the Bni Bouayach communal council, who had hoped to become the list's number two.
The list leader ultimately chose Khaled Ahrchi, a decision that angered Akrouh, according to converging sources.
Those sources say the conflict could move beyond personal relations and influence the party's results on polling day, given Akrouh's electoral weight in Bni Bouayach and several areas of the province.
The second spot matters greatly on a list competing for four seats, as it reflects internal alliances and the candidate's electoral weight.
